The postage/freight aspect of the Best Practices Committee has concluded its study. Chartered to explore the issue in October 1997, the Committee has accomplished the following:
- A survey encompassing 6-months of data concerning postage/freight charges was completed;
- Conclusions were presented to the Board in a White Paper drafted by the Committee;
- Upon Board review, it was determined that these issues should be addressed between trading partners;
- It was further suggested that these issues should be considered as a portion of any future handling fee study;
- One vital element of the Committee’s objective was to raise awareness in the industry, which has been accomplished.
As Chairman of the ACP Best Practices Committee, I extend my appreciation to each of the Committee members for their hard work and for the tremendous amount of time, which has been devoted to these matters.
The Committee’s immediate next objective is to determine what additional opportunities should be explored via a polling of the general membership. Given the rapid evolution of electronic promotions, it is possible that the Committee’s scope will move into this venue. Interested ACP members should contact me for further information.
